Bloomberg Update II

So the cowardly council passed the resolution as was expected 29-22. From Bloomberg.com (heh)
Dozens watched from a packed mezzanine gallery, some with handmade signs that said ``Vote No,'' and ``No King Bloomberg,'' as lawmakers argued whether they should overrule the will of the voters expressed in referendums held in 1993 and 1996.
I am one of them, the fact that he wouldn't let this measure be on a referendum but rather forced it through the council shows his contempt for New York voters and also revealing the fact that he knows voters would not reward his behavior. I have a feeling the fallout from this will endanger his ability to actually win a third term; the main reason he'll win again, incompetent Democratic nominees and a flailing Wall Street.
The reasons for keeping him around, in the voters eyes, would have to revolve around the economic mess. The question is will voters buy that he is an FDR and this is WWII for a city mayor -- as much as I hate to admit it, it's a strong and valid argument. Again though, nominate another Republican of his ilk, Bloomberg's not a god nor guru.
